Q. Where will my pet(s) travel in the aircraft?
A. Your pet(s) will travel in what is referred to as the “bulk bin” of the aircraft, a pressurized, heated and ventilated cargo hold of the aircraft, situated below the passenger compartments. Tie-down straps secure the travel container to the decking of the cargo compartments.

Q. What sort of travel container should my pet be transported within?
A. A pet from North America travels in a plastic container, while those from the UK , Ireland , and South Africa are found to travel in wooden boxes, constructed to the dimensions of the pet. In either case, the pet must be able to stand erect, turn comfortably, and lie down with ease. Please remember, the usage of the words “airline approved” is more of marketing technique than actual approval from an airline.

Q. Can my pet travel with familiar objects: such as blankets, pillows, bedding, articles of clothing?
A. Yes, provided it is flat in nature, and does not obstruct the ventilation holes. A minimal approach is better than a maximum approach. With familiar family scents on the clothing, the pet's apprehensions and anxieties are reduced considerably.

Q. How should I prepare my pet for flight as relates to food and water?
A. By reducing the amount of food given prior to actual flight, your pet avoids any potential gastrointestinal distress as well as not soiling the travel container. The primary concern during flight is adequate water intake to maintain proper hydration.

Q. How are pets handled at transfer airports?
A. With the emergence and prevalence of Animal Care Lounges,
Animal Hotels, and Animal Transit facilities at the world's major international airports, the pet who requires a transfer during its global journey is cared for between flights by dedicated airline animal care professionals; who understand the needs of the traveling and relocating family pet. The scheduled stops are for the comfort of the pet, allowing adequate food & water intake.

Q. Should my pet(s) be given sedatives, tranquilizer, antihistamines, anti-anxiety drugs, etc prior to flight?
A. Veterinary authorities worldwide have established there is nothing to gain by the administration of various drugs to pets and animals being transported. In fact, just the opposite takes place; as adverse reactions can take place during flight that can be detrimental to the pets health; both immediate and long term.

Q. Will my traveling and relocating pet be stressed during the flight, and are there any aftereffects?
A. Given pre-flight conditioning to the travel containers; reduced food intake, and understanding of the conditions of flight, the stress upon the pet is minimal, with no post-flight effects. The captain of the aircraft flying your pet is given a manifest of what is board the aircraft during flight. The temperature of the bulk bin is controlled by the Captain and the flight crew, assuring safe transport of your family pet.

Q. When will my pet not be able to fly?
A. Airlines will impose embargoes & suspensions for the acceptance of pets owing to temperatures at origin or destination below an acceptable temperature; as well as above certain temperatures. These weather and temperature embargoes are for the welfare of the pet and the animals accepted by the air carriers; and are not designed for passenger convenience.

THAILAND IMPORT RULES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Microchip: Each Pet shall be identified by means of a microchip.  No other form of identification is acceptable. The microchip used should comply with ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO standard 11785- otherwise the pet will need to be sent with it’s own scanner attached to the top of the crate.
  2. Rabies Vaccination & Certificate: All pets must have an original Rabies Certificate and this certificate must state the microchip number, the date of inoculation and the validity of the particular vaccination you obtain – some are good for two years, others are only good for one.  This vaccine must be an inactivated vaccine.
  3. Vet Health Certificate (Form 7001)– This is the standard Health Certificate to be filled out by your USDA accredited Veterinarian.   Must be issued within 10 days of the flight.
  4. Import Permit – It is necessary to obtain an import permit from the Bangkok Animal Quarantine Station in order to enter Thailand.  This permit is good for 45 days from date of issue.
  5. USDA Endorsement: The above referenced forms:

    3. Vet Health Certificate
  6. Current Vaccination RecordsFor Dogs & Cats Respectively:
    1. __Canine Distemper. Parvovirus and Hepatitis

    4. __Chlamydia Psittaci
    5. __Cat Enteritis-Feline Panleukopaenia/Feline Parvo Virus

Documents Required for Pet Export

1) Certificate of Vaccination
The vaccinated date must not less than 30 days, but not longer than 1 year.

2) Health Certificate
Need to take the pet to the Suvarnabhumi Airport Animal Quarantine station only in order to issue the Health Certificate before the departure date within 3 days.

3) Copy Passport of the owner/shipper
Copy passport is required only the photo page only.

4) Import Permit (If applicable, check with your Government Organization).


Recommendation for Export of Dog and Cat

1) The animal (s) must be vaccinated against rabies wherever possible, a period of 30 days before the departure is recommended. Other vaccination is voluntary. A dog or cat that is younger than 3 months old is not allow to take any injection, so it can’t be shipped.

2) Prior to export, the originals as well as photocopies of
  • Certificate of Rabies Vaccination
  • Passport or other identification of the owner
  • Updated Health Certificate
